International Private Line (IPL)

Our international private line (IPL) services extend your reach worldwide, providing the most dependable, efficient, direct method of transporting any type of data traffic. IPL is designed to seamlessly link international customers to our suite of network services and efficiently bridge the gap between SONET/SDH communications standards. IPL circuits can be easily bundled with domestic private line and metro access services for connectivity to our network anywhere in the United States.

How it works

WCS International Private Line Services are dedicated point-to-point lease lines crossing over one or more international boundaries. The IPL circuits are available for a monthly fee, regardless of the degree of use. Typical configuration is from one of our U.S. international gateway network centers (POPs) to a far-end international gateway. Outside the United States, we typically use undersea cables and terrestrial fiber systems to provide service to countries worldwide, leveraging both owned and leased facilities. IPL can carry data, digitized voice, fax, video and other forms of digital transmission, at standard data rates of DS-1 (1.544 Mbps) to OC-12/STM-4 (622.080 Mbps).

Frame Relay

Whether utilizing WCS Frame Relay Services to expand the geographic reach of your own network, or as a complete retail solution, your business can benefit from services delivered over our fully-lit broadband network. Our network connects all major U.S. cities and extends to more than 60 countries worldwide, allowing you to offer seamless connectivity for domestic and international business needs.

Frame relay is a cost-effective data networking service that allows enterprises to connect to remote offices in a secure, private WAN environment. The technology uses permanent logical connections to pass data encapsulated in frame relay packets. Standard components include:

• Efficient Network Expansion
  Companies can cost effectively utilize our network to provide WAN services beyond their on-net locations via UNI or NNI connections.
   
• Retail Enablement
  WCS provides a complete service that allows businesses to brand/resell frame relay services in the retail space, as expanded capabilities of their own network or as stand-alone customer solutions.
   
• Backhaul for ISP and Wireless Providers
  Our frame relay over ATM is an ideal technology for connecting traffic aggregation points.
   
• Disaster Recovery
  The qualities inherent in our network provide two disaster recovery options: ATM automatic re-route capabilities or cost-effective pre-established PVCs, which can serve as back-up circuits in the event of disaster.

  In today's capital-constrained markets, WCS allows domestic and international frame relay carriers to extend their reach without investing in additional infrastructure or capital.

  Our award-winning network provides performance, availability and delivery, all backed by SLAs that are among the most aggressive in the industry.
   
• Multiple Port & PVC Speeds
  We offer port speeds of DS-0 through DS-1, as well as DS-3, for terminations both inside and outside the United States. We also provide E-1 for terminations outside the United States. PVCs are available in speeds of 4 Kbps to 1.536 Mbps and can be configured either symmetrically or asymmetrically, allowing end users to specify varying bandwidths in each direction.

  Our frame relay services are offered to more than 200 frame relay access cities in the United States and more than 60 countries worldwide.
   
• Frame Relay & ATM Service Interworking
  This provides customers with a smooth integration of packet-to-cell and/or cell-to-packet data traffic, at no additional cost.
   
• IP VPN Interoperability
  Allows connectivity over the same port between our ATM or frame relay network and our IP VPN network.
